Hi Vanessa
You seemed to be worse off than we were in some ways. I remember having moved
from a house with a bathroom in it during the late 'fifties when I was about
eight years old into a house with a bathroom which was downstairs and attached
to the kitchen, it also had an outside loo, which I hated having to use. We
didn't move into a house with a bathroom until 1967, then I thought it was like
living in the lap of luxury having an upstairs bathroom. Although Dad had a
car, he always went to work before my brothers and sisters went to school, and
they always walked there and back. I used to go away to school, so I didn't
have that pleasure.
Well, compared to those far gone days, I'd say we were quite rich.
