Hi, Jen; You make me envious talking about the Kennedy space centre or Cape Canaveral. I've been crazy about the space program since I was about five, remembering Gemini 6 (Ed White, later killed in the Apollo 1 launch pad fire; taking the first space walk ) and the Soviet Voskhod 1. However, unlike you, I'm an unrepentant Trekkie, and also a Doctor Who fan - though mainly the classic stuff. As for Scottish Castles, do you know that, if you phone in beforehand, the staff at Stirling Castle, probably the best of Scotland's Castles, will let you feel some of the artefacts? One of these is a leather football which was very probably played with by Mary Queen of Scots while she was kept there while Henry VIII tried to bully Scotland into marrying her to his son, in what has become known as the "Rough wooing"? Certainly the ball was there, in the rafters when the Great Hall was converted, just after Mary was taken to France, into a smaller structure. The ball was recovered when the Great Hall was restored to its' magnificent state a few years back. Scotland was probably as rubbish at football then as we are now! -----Original Message----- From: jenny garland - Email Address: jenny.garland@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent On: 14/08/2012 16:11 Sent To: guide.chat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Email Address: guide.chat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [guide.chat] Reply to James I have always been fascinated by space travel, but not space films,or serials on TV. I have been to Kennedy Space Centre many times, even spent 5 days there one year, while on holiday in Florida, still not seen it all. I have also visited a lot of castles in Scotland,as I have a friend in Perth shire. I am telling you this as,they often let me handle things on show, long as I don't touch the Tapestry. I don't think this happens in England, but may be wrong. Jenny G jenny.garland@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----- No virus found in this message.
