Thoughts about food! All this euphoria about food recently has left me feeling
a bit forlorn because, ike you Jennie ,I can no longer eat like I used to do. In
fact food for me these days is a necessity and not a reason for living. However
I do not resent other people's enjoyment of food and drink but I must warnyou
that advancing age often plays havoc with the appetite.A good reason for
enjojing hearty meals whilst you can.
It was strange Jennie that you should mention pasta and peas because tis is one
of the simple mini- meals I devise for myself using convenience foods. I buy
packets of Batchelor Pasra'n'Sauce which only needs the addition of milk and
water to cook in a pan on the cooker or a bowl in the microwave to make a tasty
dish. One of the flavours is cheese and broccoli and to this I add a good
tablespoon of frozen garden peas. One packet makes two servings for me. I eat
one and freeze the other. Love Elizabeth

Thanks Vanessa, yes it is always good fun at these parties, and as for the food
,alas I can't eat like I use to. Malcolm was remembering curried goat, I prefer
rice and peas alas not at that particular feast. Somehow no matter how I tried
I could never get the same taste when I tried to cook it myself. I use to run a
big diabetic unit in an high mixed race are, at the slightest excuse we had a
party when every one brought a dish, home made curry did not taste any thing
like that you get in Asian restaurants, noodles with a wonderful sauce, proper
samosa' spring rolls I could go on but all now a memory , most of all a
taramusu made by an Italian, oh dear my mouth is watering just thinking about
it.
Happy days !!
Dawn, what is your favourite meal ?do you cook like your mum ?.
Carol, Queen Victoria was 4 ft 10 inches tall and weighed 12 + stone, and she
lived to a ripe old age, so you have a way to go yet before the dreaded diet
Happy eating
