*Plans for 2016 Administrator Summits announced*
Due to the success of last year's Admin Summits (based on the reviews from
administrators), plans for another round of Admin Summits have been
announced. Like last year, the state RESAs are hosting the Admin Summits. "Why

is the theme for this year's summits. Each summit will be from 9:00 to
12:00. Locations are arranged by the RESA. Please click here for the

Promotes Attendance Works*
In a recent email, Garry McGibony, Ph.D Deputy Superintendent- External
Affairs and Policy, shared with Superintendents and other school personnel
the effort of Attendance Works."Improving attendance and reducing chronic
absence is not rocket science, but it does take commitment, collaboration,
and tailored approaches to the particular challenges and strengths of each
school community. *Schools, communities, and advocates across the nation
have successfully taken steps to ensure children are attending school more
regularly."*

*Gifted Eligibility Form Available Statewide*
During the 16th Annual Georgia Gifted Coordinator’s Consortium held in
January 2015, the Gifted Eligibility Form was released. With the
implementation of the new form, school system personnel can enter a
student's results in the four areas of evaluation. Information like CogAT,
Renzuli, Naglieri, etc can now be stored directly to a student's SLDS
information. This standard approach, although not mandatory, will enable
school systems around the state to better monitor gifted students as they
transfer within and outside of any school system. Demonstrations and
training sessions on the Gifted Eligibility Form are available. For more

*SLDS Parent Portal NOW Available*
Now available to almost every school system in the state, SLDS has released
the SLDS Parent Portal*. The SLDS Parent Portal works directly with the
school system's current student information system (SIS). When a parent
logs into the system's Parent Portal, they will have a "link" to the SLDS
Parent Portal section. This SLDS Parent Portal area will provide the parent
with all of their child(ren)'s historical data, which is currently
available to teachers and other school personnel through SLDS. As of this
newsletter - there are 10 years of historical data available in SLDS.

*2015-2016 Milestones Data Now Available in SLDS*
SLDS is pleased to announce the availability of the 2015-2016 Milestones'
data. Users have the ability to see two years of Milestones- this includes
teachers and administrators. Teachers have the ability to review the
assessment performance of their students from last year and more
importantly they can review the assessment performance of their current
students. Administrators can see both 2015 & 2016 Milestones (as seen
below).

*Free Training Opportunities (revised)*
The Georgia Department of Education instructional technology training team
provides training on all components of the Statewide Longitudinal Data
System (SLDS) free of charge to any Georgia public school. Each session is
tailored to suit the audience in attendance and the allotted timeframe
provided by school or system level personnel. All sessions are designed to
be “hands-on” so attendees should have access to computers during the
sessions. Once a training request is received through email or the Training
Request Form
