Good afternoon,
We met briefly after one of the session at the Data Collections conference
and talked about having data specialists on the allotment sheet. The GSIS
board has talked about this for years and has tried to get involvement from
other areas such as the Georgia Department of Education and the PSC.
Noralee Deason from Effingham County has developed a data specialist
certification model for a college course that she is taking and has shared
this with Bob Swiggum, Levette Williams, and the GSIS Advocacy Committee.
She is also seeking PSC involvement. Her model is amazing! Just reviewing
her document shows the tremendous need for data specialists in every
school. We have her permission to share with anyone who can help with this
initiative.
Please review and contact Noralee, any member of the GSIS Board, and/or
me if you have any ideas and suggestions in implementing a ‘data
specialist’ program in all Georgia schools along with a certification
program. We appreciate your willingness to pursue this with the Education
Reform Committee.
