Depending which route they take, they can make it in under 4 hours going
the speed limit. If they leave at 8, they can make it there at or little
before 12, eat and register in time for the sessions on Wednesday, per map
quest.

I just pulled up MapQuest and if it is The Bibb County School, going
straight there its 2 h 45 mins from the school to the Westin. So, they
wouldn’t have to get us really early to come.

Ultimately, if what has been done in the past isn't broken.....
We cannot set the policy for local school boards and their expectations
concerning travel. I always just planned accordingly. I would look at the
schedule and make sure I allowed myself enough time to travel, register,
and make the first session. But, I only had to drive about 3 hours (with a
couple of stops, if needed). Last year, I did drive down the night before
the conference. But, my district approved that.

Ugh!! If we do that, when are we supposed to stuff bags and organize
everything else? If we are in the building the day before, don’t we have
to pay for people to be there, one being Security? Things would have to be
done the night before and could not wait the day of such as posters, signs
for the doors, signs for the tables and arrange door prizes. When are we
supposed to eat? (I’m all about food you know)
Then if we do open registration at 11; what time do we start sessions?
Anna, what counties are asking? Are we talking about counties that are
just over the 50 mile range or are we talking about people who are driving
at least 4-5 hours to get to Savannah?

I am getting questions regarding our registration start time for the
conference. I believe this is due to new travel regulations. I believe we
talked about it, but I don’t know if we ever voted on it. Are we going to
start registration at 11:00 so that people can justify staying the night
before?
