I agree with Samantha on all of these.
Also, are there any other 'examples' anyone can think of. To Sam's point, she
was just using examples.
Whatever we decide, we can be sure they are in the 'rules'.

Like does group photos count as 1 for everyone in the photo? If so, how do
they need to identify their selves.
If it is a group photo, each person will need to post the photo on their
page/feed. This will ensure we have people identified.
Will we need to go to each vendor booth and take a photo of everyone that is
with them to make sure the people are taking photos with vendors or do we just
take their word for it?
Their tweet/post will be a photo of them with the vendor.
What about the business rep? How will we know?
The photo will need to have the name of the business in it....if we decide to
use this. This was just an example.
Will the photos in the sessions be disturbing to the presenter?
This too was just an example. If we choose to use a presenter, then the photo
can be taken prior to or just following the session....again....just an example.
Item #10 was included to ensure people are not dipping out before the last
session. The presenters work hard on their presentations. I thought this
would encourage people to stick around for the late sessions on Thursday.
Only tweets/posts submitted for the individual posting them by 5:00 pm on
Thursday count. You cannot tweet/post for others.
Any other ideas for items to tweet/post?

I feel we need to work on the rules first. I feel we need to choose something
different for Item #4, 7 and 10 because I don’t want people disrupting the
presenter. Maybe add one more vendor, photo of your conference lunch and the
GSIS sign or two signs of the businesses that donated because not all of them
are open at the end of the conference day or something like that.

By the way....if we want to do this and we get a decision on what the rules
need to be, I can print a sign to hang at the registration area for Wednesday.
Just let me know if we need it, etc.

My recommendation is that the person has to post all photos on Twitter or all

This is an excellent idea. Last year we only did a "#" tag, but nothing like
this.
I would be up to helping Samantha keep up with this. It would only be for
Facebook or Twitter, as those are our two social media accounts that we use
most.
If everyone is on board, I can print business card size templates with the
'rules' & print out 500 to stuff in bags.
I like the suggestions & we would say that they have to follow the 'rules' to a
tee. Another rule is that they would have to 'follow us' on either media.
I'm not sure about the prize, but it could be a tablet. It shouldn't be a
'big' prize such as a free registration as not everyone is on social media.
What we need to do as a group is agree on a prize & give us the go ahead.

This is a great idea, Samantha. The board tried something similar at a previous
conference, but you were right in that it is a difficult task for someone to
keep up with. If it was well planned in advance, AND others were given specific
tasks that they had to follow to assist, I think it would work.

During an early meeting, we were discussing ways to get people to visit the
vendor tables. Well, what about a scavenger hunt that incorporates twitter
photos of themselves with the vendors, during sessions, and even visiting some
of the businesses on the river that donated door prizes???
They could tweet the photos with a caption matching listed item, tagging
#GSISHunt16 (or something like it). The hunt would need to be completed by 5 PM
on Thursday. The list could contain about 10 items. The items could represent
those "hard to get people involved" moments. For example:
Items 1, 2, & 3 - Photos with vendors (it will be up to the vendors to pitch
their products)
Items 4 - Photo during a session
Item 5 - Photo with a GSIS Board member
Item 6 - Photo of them posting to the WOW moment board
Item 7 - Photo with a business representatives of one of the businesses that
donated door prizes (this would require a published list somewhere)
Item 8 Photo with a DOE employee
Item 9 - Photo during breakfast
Item 10 - Photo during 4 PM session
All of the people that complete the "list" will go into a drawing for a free
conference the next year (or a coveted door prize of sorts)???? The winner
would be announced during the closing session????
Thoughts? Compiling the tweets to know who goes in the drawing might be a bit
of a challenge. But, if they are required to tweet:
"Item 1 @GSISSUSERGROUP #GSISHunt16"
...it could make it easier to go down the page of #s to find the list. I would
be willing to contribute my time if it will help get people to participate in
those "more difficult to get participation" areas. And, the number of items on
the list is up to us. I just thought this might add a bit more interaction.
It may be too late to incorporate this for 2016. But, 2017 will be here before
you know it.
