In reviewing the questions, I have a couple of areas of discussion.
It seems that the change in mileage would "balance" the change in the hotel
room rate...unless the hotel is cheap enough to make it worth it.
Did Jekyll have food and entertainment as readily available as Savannah?
What would the budget look like? (comparing Jekyll to Savannah) And, how
would that impact the conference rate?

We want to give everyone a quick update.
Per our last board meeting when we discussed other venue options, Donna
suggested Jekyll Island. Since these types of decisions have to be made
rather quickly -- as in a week. We had to move fast. As our conference
chair committee person, Priscilla contacted the Conference Center in Jekyll
as well as the Westin.
The conference center recommended a small group on-site visit. Per their
suggestion we visited three different hotels; the Westin, the Hampton Inn,
and The Holiday Inn along with a tour of the conference center.
We have several pros and cons we need to discuss with the board as a whole
and we plan to do this on Tuesday after we unload at the convention center.
Please plan to be available for at least one hour after unloading at 4:00
In the meantime, we have been brainstorming with what we were presented
today. We believe we need to send a survey out to our current registered
attendees. Attached you will find the survey.
