Hi folks,

We absolutely agree about Paul!

How about we send a card and letter to the post office along these lines?

A letter to the post office

Dear Faringdon Post Office

We are writing to express our thanks for the tremendous service Paul has given to our villages and to ask you to reconsider his reassignment.

Everyone has an idea of the perfect postie: someone who will get the message through come rain or shine, but somehow always has time to stop and chat.

Paul has lived up to that ideal and more. He knows every person and every pet. He takes a real interest in our lives and our community. He is part of our community.

We understand that now, after 17 years, Paul may be reassigned to another round.

With no offence intended to the new person on the Coxwells beat – we are sure they would be very professional – we are writing to ask you to please keep Paul on the Coxwells round.

For many of us, whether it’s a break in a busy work day, or a point of contact on a quiet morning, Paul’s visits are a bright point in the day. It would be a tremendous loss if those relationships were broken for logistical convenience.

We would be very grateful if you would reconsider so that Paul can remain part of our Coxwell community.

With thanks and best wishes

If that would work, we could pop a card and note into the phone box library (is that OK, Ian?) for people of the Coxwells to sign, then we could drop it off at the Sorting Office some time next week?

Thanks and best wishes,
Richard & Sophie
(and Merlin, who would miss him too)

Pitchforks at the border!

No seriously I agree *something* needs to be done. How can 17 years just be disregarded like that?

Several of us think we should get up a petition (including Little Coxwell/elsewhere??) and refuse to let the new postman into the village!! The dogs aren't happy either!

Brilliant. Please count us in! He has been a complete star and we are really sad he won’t be coming around the village.

Hi All

Yes we are already planning on doing something as he has been amazing. The Community group are just deciding what to do.

Hi all

We are relative newcomers to the village, so we haven't known Paul as long as some, but we feel sad that he is no longer to be our postman.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to club together to get him a card or present? It feels as though it would be appropriate to do something?

Best wishes
