Lisa (and others)... Good question. This gives me an opportunity to once again urge all GradeQuick users to STOP keeping that unnecessary, "double-the-effort," hard-copy, old-fashioned gradebook! (Think that was strong enough? <g>) Instead, try this approach. Right now, print out a copy of each of your gradebooks. (Using the simple old "File/Print gradebook" works just fine.) Then, use THAT as your "hard-copy" gradebook. Each time your students take a new test, quiz, or homework, scribble their grades down on this sheet. (No need to be neat. Just squeeze the grades in next to their names.) Then, when you have 3-4 sets of grades to enter, fire up GradeQuick and enter them. The students' names WILL be in the "correct" order. After you finish entering that set of grades, do an immediate "File/Print gradebook" again, and there you have it... the latest, up-to-date "hard-copy" of your gradebook. No need to enter the grades into that fancy, spiral-bound gradebook that your school gave you. One more suggestion. Create a folder (the paper kind) labeled "Old Grade Sheets." Instead of throwing out all the old printouts (with your "hand-scribbled" grades on them), just slip them into this folder... just in case. One issue that usually comes up when I suggest doing away with the "standard" hard-copy gradebook is something like this: "I can't do away with my standard printed gradebook. My school requires that I hand it in at the end of the year." I used to hear that all the time, too. But if you do some serious asking around, you'll probably find out that your administration is *really* just interested in having your turn in *some* sort of "printed" gradebook. If you push them on it, they really don't CARE whether or not it's a "standard" gradebook... as long as they have something in PRINT! So, all you have to do when the school year is over is to do ONE final printout (again using "File/Print gradebook") and turn THOSE copies in. Everybody's happy! (FWIW: It may take some "convincing" on your part to get certain administrators to realize the above suggestion makes sense. It took me two years! Old habits die hard. <g>) Hope this suggestion results in saving you a lot of time. Jerry Taylor Technology Integration Teacher Greece, NY School District Web page: www.jerrytaylor.net TASK page: www.greece.k12.ny.us/task/ I was wondering if there is any possible way to manipulate how the students are listed in the roster. With this new semester my students are now listed in ABC order. Some of these kids came in the middle of the first semester so they are at the bottom of my hard copy grade book. This causes me to have to stop and think (which I don't like to do when entering grades :0 ) I know that you can sort by ascending and descending, but I would like to highlight and move the students placement in GradeQuick. Is this possible??
