[GradeQuick] Re: How many teachers?

Barb,

Our elementary school has created a custom report card with GradeQUick that
uses the skill fields. The fields allow us to put details into the report
cards that would not be possible using just the gradebook itself. They can
be cumbersome to use, so be careful with the number of skill fields you set
up for use.

Jerry,
Teachers are using GQ/Edline on a voluntary basis this year, but I estimate
that 80% are posting grades to Edline. About the same % are using GQ to
record grades; but ALL teachers are required to submit their quarterly
grades using GQ in order to prepare report cards. (Some Edline non-users
have actually received emails from parents asking why they aren't posting
grades!)

We have approximately 580 students in our high school, and 156 parents have
activated their Edline accounts. Many parents, however, are checking more
than one student account, and I know for a fact that some parents are using
their students' usernames and passwords instead of activating their own
accounts. (I think this is because the kids got their activation codes first
and shared them at home.)

We plan this fall to start giving incoming 7th grade parents their
activation codes on "Back to School Night" and offering Edline training in
the labs immediately after the usual orientation speeches by the 7th grade
teachers. This year we mailed all activation codes and instructions to
parents. I trained all the students, one grade level/day, until all had
activated their accounts. I also trained all of the teachers.

I would like to hear from elementary schools who use GradeQuick, especially
those who use the "skills" component. We are considering purchasing GQ for
our elementary school next fall.
