Or do they checkin/out to EDLINE? Our teachers used to checkout to floppy disks for years. We had horrible results with that. Disks kept crashing right and left. Data was constantly getting lost. We got "LZ copy errors" all over the place. I even called Jackson about that. They (reluctantly) admitted that they opted to use the "LZ" (Lempel-Ziv) algorithm for data compression (saving to disks) rather than use the Microsoft version (the one used any time you do a simple "Save as" or "Drag-and-drop" from within Windows). Personally, I believe this is a mistake! Many teacher simple gave up trying to checkout and did all their work in school. However, for the teachers who are now using EDLINE for checkin/out, there have been NO reported errors. > Another alternative is VPN. Sure would be nice if you'd explain to everyone what "VPN" is. <g> Jerry Taylor Technology Integration Teacher Greece, NY School District Web page: www.jerrytaylor.net TASK page: www.greece.k12.ny.us/task/ GradeQuick listserv: www.greece.k12.ny.us/taylor/gradequick/ "And God said: Let there be beer!
