What about disabling the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service? Could I add that
to my gpo that manages windows services? Seems like that might be a
winner.

Jonathan-

If you have Vista clients then Vista GP supports this. If not, then
Group Policy Preferences supports device restrictions but you can either
only enable or disable a given device class-there is no granularity to
allow reads but not writes, as there is in Vista.

Subject: [gptalk] CD-Rom Write Disable

Is there a key that explicitly changes CD-Rom drives to read only? I
have a custom ADM that disables writing to removable media but USB keys
are still permitted. That solution won't work. I also have a custom ADM
that disables the cdrom.sys driver. Reading from CD-Rom drives is still
kosher as well, so that doesn't work.

Any suggestions?
