Kudos to Ted indeed! For info the breeze at the end of the race was pretty much a steady 20 kts and with the ebbing current it was tough to get to the finish line. Southern Yankee II finally screamed across at 7 kts after having to tack 3 -4 times as we were getting set down river. Lesson learned: If you think it's the right time to tack, don't. Wait another 5 minutes. We lost valuable time with multiple premature tacks. Kudos to my crew of Wayne Willis and Roddy Delk. I'm sure they will appreciate the extra hour of sleep this morning. They worked hard!! Something about not wanting me to hurt my shoulder. Anyway SY II reached 8.3 kts going downriver on second leg. Probably 2 -3 kts helped by current. -----Original Message----- From: gpsbug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:gpsbug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of John Sent: Saturday, October 29, 2005 2:05 PM To: 'Gpsbug@Freelists. Rebecca J was surfing downwind at 10 kts in the puffs. Finish order: Rebecca J 1, Southern Yankee 2, Summer Breeze 3, Special kudos to Ted and his sons for getting that little boat around the course in today's conditions. See ya next week. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the winter party. John
