Fellow Sailors,

The crew of the Anam Cara will not be able to attend the Pagan River
Challenge due to prior commitments. We wish you all the best during the
race and look forward to hearing all the resultant sailing tails.

Kindest regards,
Susan
Anam Cara

Subject: [gpsbug] Pagan River Challenge

Aside from myself, I have received exactly zero registrations for the
Pagan
River Challenge. A couple of skippers have expressed interest, though,
but
I need to know by the end of this week if you are actually going to
race. I
need to set the course and figure out the starting times.

If we race a full course, we will do the usual triangle plus run up the
Pagan to finish off the GPYC dock. Yes, just like Annapolis. I plan
to
have the race from about 10AM to finish by 4. If we have to shorten
the
course, we will finish at the mouth of the Pagan. (I am reserving this
option as I believe the Pagan will be ebbing as we are trying to finish.
If
we don't have much wind, this could be a long race.)

This should be a fun, challenging event, I am hoping for good air from
the
SW, which will mean short-tacking much of the Pagan Channel. So, have a
good chart/depthsounder on board, and remember the starboard tack boats
are
priveliged and so do boats that must tack to clear an obstruction such
as a
pier, channel marker, or a shoal.

Again, we are talking about the Pagan River Challenge to be sailed Sat,
Jun
18th. To enter the race, browse to
http://webpages.charter.net/j.wandling
<http://webpages.charter.net/j.wandling> then pick "Race Entry Form"
from
the choices on the left of the home page. This will bring up an entry
form.
Fill it in, after choosing "Pagan R Challenge" for the Event Name, then
click the "Send" button to send me the entry form.

If your boat does not have a handicap, also fill in the Application Form
by
following the "Application" link from the home page.

This is not one of the regular WSSC events. It is sponsored by the
Gatling
Pointe Yacht Club and they will require an entry fee. There is an entry
fee
plus an optional fee to attend a social event at the club that evening.
Some slips may be available.

To get information on the fee and/or to get an overnight slip, please
contact Sean Gibbons directly at the club. 357 0693.

Thanks.

John
