Hello guys,Nice guess Alex, that is what Map Quest uses actually, we do not yet store the average speeds of each segment of the road with your route so all we have is the total route distance. When you are not moving we use for vehicle routes 25 MPH as your "speed", for Pedestrian routes when you are not moving we use 2 MPH.
So once your are up to speed while driving try the ETA again and you should get some more realistic ETA's.
In the future we are looking to get more realistic ETA's while not moving, and even better ones while driving.

Just a guess, but version 4 uses average speeds traveled on roads while Map Quest probably uses exact speed limits. This may account for it.Have a great day, Alex----- Original Message ----- From: John Gassman <johngassman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Sun, 26 Aug 2007 06:52:58 -0700 Subject: [gps-talkusers] vehicular rout differencesHello, I along with my twin brother and friends are going to Phoenix attheend of September. Our chorus and quartet are competing in the district bargershopconvention.Just for fun, we thought we'd do a little Gps comparison. I have Sendero's Gps, my brother Larry has Pac mate's street talk and my friend has the commercial Gps for his car. When I calculated the route from where I live in anaheim toPhoenix,it claimed 355.54 miles and 14 hours to get there. Now I could see this as accurate if I or larry were driving! I also checked Map quest and was told 358 miles and 5 hours and17minutes to get there. I'm sure my gps will recalculate once we get on the road but I'm wondering why such a major difference in estimated time?
