Great to hear such amazing stories, such fond memories, glad this is still
being used and people find it useful. It is an amazing product and I am
very proud to be a part of it.

Peter,
Thanks for your contributions. I always enjoy coming across a user POI in
the UK labeled with PB.

Hi Mike,
I loved my PK dearly, but it sadly died long ago, and I still carry Sendero
old-school wherever I go on the Apex.
I have sixteen GPS apps on my iPhone, including Seeing Eye, but nothing
comes close to Sendero for exploring, and even for reliablility, given
that cell coverage can let you down so easily once you're off the beaten
track. I also love finding footprints of places that others have
visited, both in this country and abroad, and places I've been when we
happen to be nearby without realising.
One more thing I'd like to mention is that Chris Grabowski started
marking capital cities, and I've been gradually adding to this
collection over the years, so that if you have the city centre POIs you
can locate most countries of the world in relation to each other, either
when virtually exploring, or when flying on long distance journeys.
Try that on the iPhone.
In short, long live Sendero.
Best,
Peter

Hi Listers,using
I used to post frequently when I was excited about places I discovered
the BrailleNote or Sendero Maps around the world. We thought of those usermid
POIs recorded in many countries as Sendero footprints going back to the
90s when I was testing the Strider prototype. Yep, that was really olddinner
school. We started all that with the Atlas Speaks 45 city tour in 1995.
Here I am today, now in Arlington Virginia, looking up where to go to
using Sendero maps. Yes, I my use Seeing Eye GPS or Blindsquare to seewhat
they might turn up or to read the menu but there is nothing quite like themy
maps on the PC to explore comfortably and efficiently.
Last weekend, my sister and brother-in-law visited me in Wichita. It was
first chance since moving there to explore cities in the area or should Ithat
say towns. As we drove North on Highway 135, my brother-in-law called out
towns and sites he saw. I called out interesting sounding names of POIs
I read on my BrailleNote PK with GPS on the dash. I was in charge ofwe
navigating to our destinations like the old flower mill in Lindsborg,
Coronado Heights and the Cosmosphere in Hutchison Kansas. There is a world
class rocket museum in Kansas at a community college, crazy. From there,
found a wonderful Italian restaurant called Luciano's in Mulvane Kansas.Travel
Luciano said he moved there because it reminded him of Tuscany. With the
live music playing and the great food, I could picture myself in Tuscany.
I just uploaded a point at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson and a few other
points, more Sendero footprints marking the earth's cool places.
I love my iPhone GPS for solid directions but you can't beat the good old
BrailleNote GPS for exploring and processing lots of location information.
If you ever get a hankering for travel stories, click on the Sendero
Blog. There are lots including the WayFun trips some of you went on. Don't
know what I will do when this PK dies.
