Hi, Chris,
My starting position was the subway stop. I know it's street location, so I set my virtual position using the street name because I could not find the subway stop itself. BTW, could this be because this section of the subway is underground? Do subway stops only show up on overground portions of a subway/elevated? Anyhow, the subway stop was my virtual position and I set the destination to the ICA's street address, both number and street name, and created the pedestrian route. I heard a turn, but was not told which way to turn. Then I heard some cross streets, so I assumed I keep going straight. But particularly because of the problems I've encountered getting information about things on the opposite side of the street, I want to be walking on the correct side of the street, the left side if I'm to turn left, or the right side if the turn is to the right. And what I'm wondering now is if I set the ICA's address as my destination when I emerge from the subway, will I be told the turns and their directions as I walk toward my destination? Not the getting warmer method, but a route being created in real time? Or must I create a pedestrian route, which does not seem to give me direction of turns?

Hi,

If the subway stop is your destination, your starting position should be
either your GPS position or a virtual position.

If you do not create a route the system has no way to tell you turning
information. If you set a destination you will get the heading and
distance to the destination line of sight.

Hi, all,
I created a pedestrian route. BTW, I could not find the subway stop I wanted to set as my starting position in the POIs, although other subway stops do appear there. The funny thing is that the name of the stop is Aquarium, and the POI search did turn up a subway stop named Aquarium in New York, a couple hundered miles away! Anyhow, I created the route, and tried to read through it, but it did not tell me which way I would have to turn on the various streets. If I go to that subway stop, emerge onto the street, and set my destination without creating a route, will the gps tell me when, where, and which direction to turn? If it does not announce intervening streets how will I know when it is time to turn? In other words, if I have to cross 4 streets before coming to the one I am to turn on, will I know when it is time to turn so that I don't turn too soon?
Thanks.
