I see. Well, I just wondered if that was possible. I'm eagerly waiting for my braille note m-power to get here hopefully with GPS because I do need that extra info and if that doesn't come with my package, then i'll try to find another way to get it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Baracco, Andrew W" <Andrew.Baracco@xxxxxx>

I know of someone who uses Microsoft Streets and Trips running on a
laptop. This is an off the shelf program that sells for about $50. I
would imagine that this does not include the cost of a GPS receiver.
This person is a computer guru, and has written her own JAWS scripts.
Because this is a solution designed for sighted folks to use either in
the car, or to plan virtual trips, it is not, by any means, as feature
rich as the blind oriented products, and because it runs on a laptop,
would probably not be portable enough for a pedestrian, but is much,
much cheapter than the blindness oriented solutions, and may be
satisfactory, depending on your circumstances, and the depth of info
that you actually require in your personal situation.

That's actually a really good unit. While I can't speak for the
Sindero Holux combo itself first hand the M1000 is a rock solid
receiver. I use a pair of them for stratum 1 time. The m1200 is also
worth while.

Hello Tina. The current Bluetooth is the Holux M-1000. It's $99 on
its own from Sendero, which includes a custom case and other
accessories. You won't find it much cheaper with that case anywhere
else online.
Personally, in using the M-1000 I get WAAS and 10-15 foot accuracy
just about anywhere I've gone.
No special configuration is required to use the unit.

I called today to check on the price of my upgrade if it doesn't come

with the m-power, bt forgot to check on the types of receivers
available.
What ones are offered now and are they pretty easy to use and are
they all bluetooth? I thought a long ttime ago I'd heard the
earthmate is really simple to use, of course i'll use my wired
megellan for a while if i have to, hopefully i could get the receiver
later with a upgrade?
anyone know? but wanted to know what goes out now with the softare.
I'd just be glad to have software with maps! Mine doesn't which is a
big reason why i never played much with it.
