Listers,
I am posting this message from GPS user, Kay Chase. She forgot her California maps on a recent trip and we sent her maps in time to be useful on a pretty exciting adventure.

Hi, Mike,

Thanks for the CA maps.

We drove to Temecula and since my husband, navigator, fell asleep, I was able to get his colleague from the office who was driving safely back to our hotel in Palm Springs. For the first time in my life, I went on a balloon ride and used the GPS to give me the Phone number for Balloon Rides over the Desert (I think that's what their name was) and I used the GPS on my ride to monitor the balloon altitude and the areas we were going over. Was that ever fun!!

We took the tram in Palm Springs to the top of the mountain, and although the GPS did not work during the ride inside the tram, it worked at the top of the mountain. We also drove to Joshua Tree National Park, and the mountain flowers were as advertised, a once in every hundred years event. The GPS clued me in to the major park peaks and attractions. I used the GPS to find us a restaurant with a salad bar for our lunch on the way back to Palm Springs. The only tragedy was I found myself on the airplane with a dead GPS battery and no Triple AA's for my receiver; Alas, they were in my briefcase back home.

Kay
