Hi gavinHave you tried mainstream navigators, primarily Wayfinder Navigator or Nokia Maps due their moderate accessibility, how they can cope such roundabouts?

Hi from the UK where the issue of roundabouts is a matter of safety, at the moment if we in the Uk try to tell a driver how to navigate around a Roundabout it just doesn't work because we are unable to advise the driver in advance which exit he must prepare to leave the Roundabout at it is considered dangerous driving by Traffic Police if a driver changes lanes on a roundabout the driver is supposed to select there position eg the correct lane and stay in it not change lanes and that is why the roundabout information is just not safe to use any within the Uk by any of the Sendero customers. I think safety is a little more inportant than knowing whats on offer at the nearest Pizza joint! Gavin. I'm not Charles, nor do I representSendero in any wayother than the simple fact that GW Micro uses SenderoSDK for our Sensenav GPS product. With this in mind, I'd like to pointout a couple ofthings.Let's take GPS out of the picture and simply talk abouta new feature orset of features for any software. The truth is, nomatter what newfeatures, enhancements, or bug fixes are added to anysoftware, it's notgoing to benefit everyone. This however does not meanthat just becausenot everyone can always take advantage of new features, that their needsare not important. Where the difficulties start is whenyou have a setof features which might benefit a few, VS a set offeatures which mightbenefit a lot. Sure, we can go back and forth as towhere the line isdrawn on what determines a few and what determines alot. Believe me,everyone's needs are important, but any software companyhas to look atthe bigger picture. Now, let me use Window-Eyes as an example. When version6.0 came out,one of the newest features of it was the ability to workwell withPowerPoint. There were a lot of other features andenhancements, butPowerPoint was one of the bigger ones. I personally donot usePowerPoint, nor do I really care how well it issupported. However, Irealize that in a lot of cases, the ability to haveaccess to PowerPointmight mean the difference in a person's ability to keepa job. Inaddition, there were, as I mentioned, a lot of otherfeatures which werenot show-cased quite as much, but which over allenhanced the stabilityand usability of Window-Eyes regardless of whetherpeople used them ornot. At the time, I did not work for GW Micro, so whatI say comes fromthe view point of a customer and not an employee. Didthe fact that Ididn't use PowerPoint prevent me from purchasingWindow-Eyes upgrade? Itcertainly did not. While PowerPoint was useless to me,I still wanted toget the upgrade to take advantage of all the otherfeatures, not onlythat, but I like staying current with my screen reader. The simple truthis, no matter what enhancements come from a new upgrade, whether theyare major ones or minor ones, it does not mean that theneeds of asmaller group of people are not being met. I'm notsaying that roundabouts are less important or that it was left outbecause of not as manypeople requesting for such support. From the messagesI've read, it hasnot been a simple matter of adding good support for thistype of area. But what Sendero, and any company for that matter, haveto do is balanceout where they will focus for new releases. The simpletruth is thatusually that focus is where it will benefit the mostpeople. Mysuggestion to you is to hang in there and keepsupporting Sendero. Fromtheir track record, it's obvious they do what they canto stay on top ofvarious situations regarding traveling with GPS.All the best.alice dampman said the following on 12/20/2007 7:11 AM:Charles, You wrote: "I can't for example spend all my time working on just thing that may only help out a selectfew people orwhen we release we would get hammered by those userswho don't needsuch an enhancement and will scream why are we forcingthem to payfor this upgrade when it only helps out some users. " Quite frankly, IMO it would be better to pay attentionto thoserequesting, even pleading for a feature that is vitalto their everydaynavigation and ignore those who scream if some featureadded is notnecessary to them. No matter what you do, there aregoing to be some wholike it, need it, can't live without it and some whonever use it. Sowhy is this roundabout matter any different from anyother?I live in Boston, and we have tons of theseroundabouts all over theplace. Alice alicedh@xxxxxxxxxxx-- Raul A. Gallegos ..
