There was a 20%discount on hardware products at the conventions.
the nice thing is that FS and VFO have reduced the prices of their
braille displays based on new technology.
Both the 14 and 40 are reduced by about $300.00.

You are probably right on the price. Maybe there was a show or introductory discount.

Hi Mike,
I originally was told it would be $1795, so I'm hoping your price turns out to be the actual price! I have a 40 cell Focus, so I'll wait for the elBraille 40 to come out. I appreciate your comments and am interested to hear whether there will be additional support for Sendero GPS with the elBraille.

Hi Mike:
I too love the PK due to its size, and fitting in my purse. Please continue to let us know how the ElBraille works on the PK. How much was it if you just have the Focus Braille display and a Jaws license?

As many of you know, I am a hold-out PK user because of its size. The ElBraille running Windows 10, Jaws and the Focus is about the same footprint at the PK but a bit thicker. I just got mine last weekend. I am not too proficient with it yet but so far I really enjoy it. The trick is learning all the shortcut keys because it has a Braille keyboard.
Sendero GPS and Maps sort of works on it. Note that you use the Chord M to toggle the Speech box mode on. That helps read in Braille what the screen reader says.
For some odd reason, when you press the single letter commands like A for address and C for City, you hear the letter but not the related information. However, if you plug in an external keyboard, these single letter commands work same as they do on any PC. We are looking into fixing this.
The ElBraille has a GPS receiver built in but I haven't figured out how to access it yet. I have been able to connect an external receiver.
This is a pretty suite package, especially for those of us who already have Jaws and a Focus 14.
Stay tuned.
