I had a bit of trouble downloading the newest file "rename_download.py" (the
file I found for download was 80 KB instead of 3 KB and did not work). So I
manually corrected this file on my PC according to your fix et voila, ca
marche!

sorry, I made a mistake in the new code: forgetting to add the dot.

Hi Caspar,
this is a bug in gPodder's procedure to shorten filenames (should
be limited to 120 characters + extension, but currently limited to
120 characters + nothing for the extension).
I've opened an issue [#618] to track it and will resolve it shortly.

This is not because of long filenames; other files with even longer
filenames are treated correctliy. After activating the option
"rename episodes after download", I get files like these:
#04 Die Macht der Täter brechen.m
(Extension is still cut off.)
The correct mp3-files can be downloaded with the right extension
manually from the website:
https://essay-faz.podigee.io/4-neue-episode
But then they are not in gPodder. Rectifying the extension in
gPodder's download folder via windows explorer results in a playable
mp3-file. But then gPodder does not find it (because the wrong
extension is in the database, I assume).
How can I get a complete podcast with all episodes in gPodder?
