[gmpi] Re: gmpi Digest V1 #65 topic: Inter-parameter linkages

My idea was that only changes to the UI interface for automation data would be processed through the actor. When the host is simply playing back from the automation, then it can be confident that all of the values are legal, having already passed through the actor when the were recorded/created.

Well, I was thinking that all parameter changes need 'approval' by the
actor.

Say the legal range of the parameter is 0.0 thru 10.0, but the user 'draws'
an automation ramp from 0.0 to 11.0, by sending it via the actor, the
parameter gets clamped to it's legal range.

Perhaps the Actor is only relevant to changes made via the UI?

Best Regards,
Jeff

I don't believe that the automation track feeds through the actor. Part
of the object of that actor is so that stored automation is post-actor.
Unless, of course, the diagram means user input to the automation track,
no the actual storage.
