probably simply not load plugins that don't take uninterleaved buffers. How do the plugin writers feel about this?

Our processing code is all non-interleaved. Our DirectX adaptor de-interleaves the incoming data and interleaves the result. I haven't noticed any performance degradation, the overhead is quite small compared to the processing in the plug.

I imagine most hosts and plugs use non-interleaved data, and if so it would make sense to use non-interleaved. At the same time, it's trivial to convert, so I have no problem accepting interleaved data.

I think it would be a mistake to mandate interleaved data only, but I really don't mind supporting both if certain host authors think it's important :-)
