i still feel that this list is too restrictive as worded. my
alternative:

GMPI is targetted, but not limited to, the following kinds of
plugins:

Audio generators: audio synthesizers of any kind. May use any kind
  of input, including music data, to control synthesis in various ways.      

Audio processors: Effects that replace traditional outboard gear in a
  studio), such as delays, reverbs, chorus, flanger, compressor, eq, pitch
  shifter, etc.

Music data processors: Quantizers, transposers, style generators.

Music data generators: algorithmic music data generators, composition
   tools.                  

We anticipate its use with new designs featuring any combinations, or
numbers, of audio and music inputs and outputs.
