i would tell you as the author of an entire pro-tools
clone/replacement that PT-style "hitpoints" don't require anything
related to the kind of event management we are doing here. ardour
supports these (we call them sync points) and they are really nothing
but an editing level concept, used when positioning a region along a
timeline with respect to something else. they play no role in realtime
execution whatsoever. i think you are confusing several different
levels of abstraction here.
