Ardour too is currently audio-only. But it also has a notion of
musical time, to provide a grid for many different kinds of operations
(positioning, stretching, selecting, etc.)

in all seriousness, i think this fine. you provide the requisite GMPI
data structure to a plugin that wants to do this, it fiddles with it,
and you completely ignore the result :)

i would consider this still be a totally compliant GMPI host as long
as you offer no other way to define a musical timeline. if you did
that but continued to ignore the plugin's efforts, then i think the
GMPI Authority would have to smote you from the "compliant" list :)
