particularly if the settings and the performance control data are both
extensible by manufacturers/developers in a way that guarantees safety, as=
with RIFF files or MIDI SysEx=2E If everybody starts using an extension it=
can be brought into the standard=2E Trying to think of everything ahead of=
time is GUARANTEED to result in a great deal of completely unnecessary
complexity - the protocol will be mostly features that nobody actually
uses, or only 1 or 2 parties use=2E

This may help reduce the inertia in moving to the new model=2E=20
