Premiere is another different case. We are not an offline processing app, but we shut down the play graph while it is not actually playing. We also have no MIDI or instrument support (we do have a concept of a synthetic importer, which is similar to an instrument, but they are not exposed to live control), or we might have had to reconsider that behavior. :)
