There is an excellent book called "Writing Solid Code."  Written by a 
Microsoftie, so you all will probably avoid it like the plague.  But IMO this 
book is chock full of best pratices, including the backwards "if" style.

Cover your ass, it will.  (Say it like Yoda.<g>)
