Subject: [vst-plugins] VST Module Architecture SDK 1.0 now available

We are proud to announce our new SDK:

       **** VST Module Architecture SDK 1.0 ****

- The first version of the new interface allows the programming of MIDI
effects plug-ins for Steinberg's main DAW applications, Cubase and Nuendo.

- Note that, this version DOES NOT replace the VST Audio Plug-Ins SDK
(Version 2.3) which is used to create VST Audio Plug-Ins including VST
instruments.

- A new Mailing list is dedicated to this SDK (see info on Steinberg 3rd
Party support page or http://ygrabit.steinberg.de)

New Steinberg Integration Interface Announced

VST Module Architecture SDK 1.0 now available

Hamburg, January 15th 2003 In a further move to open up its main DAW
products to the programming community, Steinberg has today announced the
launch of a new integration interface. The VST Module Architecture allows
third parties to program MIDI effect plug-ins for its Nuendo and Cubase
SX/SL/SE sequencers. The VST Module Architecture 1.0 SDK is now available
for download as of today 19:00 Central European Time.
Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH today announced the release of a new
interface standard, the VST Module Architecture. The first version of the
new interface allows the programming of MIDI effects plug-ins for
Steinberg's main DAW applications, Cubase and Nuendo.
Cubase and Nuendo already include MIDI effects, including plug-ins such as
an Arpeggiator, a MIDI Delay effect and a transposer, and the freeware
wrapper on www.steinberg.net adds support for Cakewalk(r) MIDI plug-ins. But
the new interface will open up MIDI effects to the wider programming
community, with Steinberg aiming for a trend similar to that following the
release of the VST SDK, which soon saw a plethora of new VST instruments and
virtual effects released. The VST Module Architecture is an object-oriented,
cross-platform and compiler-independent interface model, with the source
code being supplied in the C++ language.
"This new interface should pave the way for many more exciting, new MIDI
plug-ins for users of Cubase and Nuendo," says Thorsten Held, Director of
Product Management at Steinberg. "This interface is the latest in a long,
distinguished line of Steinberg technologies that have been opened up to
third party manufacturers and the programming community as a whole. We're
also planning to include other functionality within the context of VST
Module Architecture in the future."

The VST Module Architecture SDK is now available for download at
www.steinberg.net.
