Over the weekend I attended Project BBQ (www.projectbarbq.com <www.projectbarbq.com> ), a yearly audio industry brainstorming session hosted by George Sanger aka "The Fat Man." Last year's "Pumbers" group at BBQ planted the initial seeds for GMPI. (FYI, BBQ has a long record of accomplishments in getting vital industry discussions off the ground. Check out the _long_ list at the end of http://www.projectbarbq.com/bbq0001.htm <http://www.projectbarbq.com/bbq0001.htm> for details.) Based on what BBQ attendees were saying, there is no doubt that "the industry" has tremendous hope for the ultimate success of GMPI. Vendors are fed up with the lack of a standard "cable" for plugins of the kind that exists for MIDI. Vendors are seeing their ability to innovate being stifled because of having to spend their time porting to N different plugin formats instead of just one. I feel like I'm on the "Dream Team", re-energized and ready to play. Just a little reminder about why we're all here... Back to work. :-)
