I don't believe external metadata is a good idea. I don't want external metadata, and no plugin I write will ever include external metadata. But there are enough people who think it's a good idea that I had to do the same thing I have asked others to do - compromise. I still, honestly, do not understand the notion that metadata is not intrinsically part of a plugin. I don't think the case has been made, but I don't really want to fight that fight again.
