Depends on the UI.  For faders perhaps.  But for GUIs where parameters
are displayed as envelopes, the most "natural" display is put 0dB in the
center, +6 at the top, -INF at the bottom.  IOW when an envelope is
drawn on the screen it's center point is unity.

Let the envelopes and the volume control resolve to a single net float multiplier inside the plug DSP. As parameters, there exposed separately and the volume can be dB while the EGs are whatever else the plug writer wants.
