Come on now, we've already GOT something that is "better than MIDI" and it
is easy to make it "compatible with MIDI".  Furtherm that's what the
requirements say: must interoperate with MIDI.  That's the key -
interoperate.

A host can receive MIDI and turn it into something more useful internally.
A host can turn internal stuff into MIDI.

it interoperates beautifully.
