The whole reason for having tools is they provide a superior means of achieving a goal. A GMPI that does all the Csound score format currently does (which is a hell of a lot more than MIDI) is simply superior to using GMPI for some easy stuff and then using Csound for the stuff that's still hard and then pasting it together somehow. A superior GMPI might mean the difference between doing the whole score including the grain clouds and multiply bent string sections in some yet to be written sequencer in one day -- versus doing part of the score in an existing sequencer and part in Csound and mixing them together in two days. And then finding it still doesn't sound quite right because you didn't get enough times to listen to the whole thing through. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Grigg" <gmpi-public@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <gmpi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, June 15, 2004 10:29 PM Subject: [gmpi] Re: 3.15 MIDI > >On Wednesday, June 16, 2004 2:25 AM [GMT+1=CET], > >Chris Grigg <xxxgmpi-public@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > >> For these kinds of compositions, instead of criticizing MIDI for not > >> handling them the way you need them, and since you don't need > >> keyboard input, why not just use Csound instead? > > > >Good point! That's what I'd probably do in that situation. > The music's the thing. > > -- Chris G. > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > Generalized Music Plugin Interface (GMPI) public discussion list > Participation in this list is contingent upon your abiding by the > following rules: Please stay on topic.
