It's being used to design good architecture.

With all respect, an architecture is good if and only if it adequately addresses the application requirements. It could be argued that, architecturally pleasing as the current concept is, if it's unable to accommodate MIDI in a way that several of us here feel is necessary (and I agree with Martijn that processing MIDI streams is a completely reasonable user expectation, and a necessary functionality in any studio), then there's at least a possibility that it's .not. the best possible architecture. This is not meant as a knock at anyone in particular.

In general terms, first you figure out what you need to do -- say, in a Requirements phase -- and .then. you come up with the nicest architecture you can given those constraints.
