Certainly It's not "so hard", it's just one more thing that plugins have to deal with instead of hosts. My own opinion is that the host should just do it. If a user does that during a performance, he risks drop-outs. But we could agree that if the host denies that request, the "operation was not permitted at this time". Is it worth the awkwardness for the plugin?
