Imagine serving with fellow Hokies to encourage Black students to follow your
lead by enrolling at Virginia Tech. This powerful example of Ut Prosim in
action is already underway, through InclusiveVT Project 2022

  -- a recruiting and outreach effort we invite you to join today.

In Virginia, the Black population is close to 20 percent. Among Virginia Tech's
students, it's less than 5 percent. Fewer than 2,000 Black or African-American
students are enrolled today. And we receive fewer than 2,000 applications from
such students each year.

Fortunately, more than 400 Black alumni have already signed on to help change
those figures well before we celebrate Virginia Tech's 150th anniversary in
2022. They are volunteering to get in touch with prospective students who might
not otherwise consider our university. And they are supporting the InclusiveVT
Student Excellence Fund to help students who might not otherwise be able to
afford a Virginia Tech education. But we don't just need hundreds of you
involved. We need thousands.

InclusiveVT Project 2022 is an initiative of the Office for Inclusion and
Diversity, in partnership with the Advancement Division, Admissions, and the
Black Faculty and Staff Caucus, with full support of university President Tim
Sands. But your participation is most important to our success.
