Dear Leo: I applaud your persistent efforts to bring harmony. In support of your ideas, I offer the following feedback for your review; My views about peace, harmony and freedom are based mostly on Vedic philosophy. In my view, the origins of the philosophical thoughts of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Kant, and Pythagoras, and others, are rooted in the Vedic philosophy as well. They were all great thinkers and philosophers of their times. They searched for truth through knowledge (*the path of knowledge*) and gained wisdom and understanding. Buddha, Jesus, and Gandhi searched for truth through sacrifice (*the path of action and indomitable will*) and attained liberation by practicing the highest virtues. They all offered either a principle, doctrine, or a moral value based on a perspective suitable to that space and time. Peace is our origin in as much as we have a subjective principle associated with us. The subjective principle has no properties, qualities or attributes. By virtue of its state it is complete in itself, because it is independent basis of all there is to know. Since it has no properties, it is complete, free and just. It is from that source where all moral and ethical principles originate. It is through the subjective principle that we perceive the world, the objective principle of matter and energy. For a perception to take place, it is necessary for the subjective principle (to make an observation) to have a body (to provide capacities for making observations). In order to achieve this connection, the subjective principle, with some process (*unknown to humankind*) makes a link and gets attached to the objective principle to create life. It is this process that provides a subtle link (of thoughts), the origins for connecting the subjective principle to the objective principle of matter and energy (with properties). As soon as the attachment is made, the subjective principle by ignorance identifies itself (state of attributelessness, peace) with the newly formed attachment with the objective principle of properties (biochemical). Once boundless, the subjective principle gets bounded by the properties of the attached objective principle (including good and evil) in life. That’s where and how, both, good and evil, in addition to other properties, are attached to the self. In this context, the Vedas regard a good action as one that is for the benefit for the other and gives the other comfort; an evil action as a selfish action that is good for the self) and gives pain to the other. By practicing the Golden Rule and the Inverse Golden Rule (Do not do unto others what you wouldn’t want done unto you), one can assure doing good actions. Whereas, the objective world can be observed by our limited senses of perception, and understood by the methods science, the subjective principle is immune to any scientific investigation. An observer (unlimited in scope) while it is observing, is beyond scientific observation by tools with limited capacity and limited (in a limited space-time continuum). However, the effects of the process (which connects the observer with the observed) on the body (change in biochemical properties) may be attempted for measurement. That however doesn’t change the immeasurable subjective principle. Peace is a state of satisfaction, and completeness with no demand. As long as, we are attached to our bodies and we have demands, we cannot be peaceful. Peace is subjective to a point that in the hypothesis that everyone else is peaceful, for an individual, tormented by physical pain, for example, in a state of physical indisposition due to disease, or mental anguish, for example, in the state of loss of a loved one, or losing job, there is no peace. Simultaneously, in most cases of normal life, we are still self-conscious (being short, fat, poor, not good-looking, bald, not knowledgeable enough, or whatever else have you) in comparison to others and we are not at peace. Given all that, it is universal that our destination is peace, because we all want freedom from physical and mental pains associated with our bodies. Correspondingly, global peace is possible only when all are at peace. (According to Gandhi, the rule of 51-percent on 49-percent is not democracy). Peace, howsoever subjective and hence impractical, is yet possible is possible by our willingness to do so. It is achieved through practicing strict disciplines of *sacrifice, service to others, or total surrender* (a state of egolessness). In those states, we only perform good actions by serving others, possible through self-conditioning. When we all render our duties we are at peace with ourselves. In the present day degraded political and economic systems promoting competition, inequality, injustice, and undue emphasis on rights only disturb mental balance and cannot bring peace. Only those political and economic systems, which can render justice, bring equality, promote cooperation and rendering of duty by all, are conducive for building a harmonious society. These systems only bring harmony in societies, a process for peace. Peace only becomes a goal. However, a harmonious society is generally possible by a fair social, economic and political system. Harmony is a state of accepting the other as they are without any attempt of changing them. In a society of people with different backgrounds (race, faith, culture, gender, and others), skills and aptitudes, there is harmony as long as we respect the other and the service they provide and all are equitably compensated either through self-regulation, or through a political, or a socio-economic system, which offers a strict rule of *equal law (justice*) for all. Simultaneously, all human beings choose to follow sustaining principles (present in the material world) in human conduct (beginning with husband and wife, both doing their duties in a family). In the distant past of the Vedic era, the society was divided into four classes (*varnashram*) for the smooth functioning of society. Each class had duties, because their rights were taken care of when all rendered their duties. In time, the system degraded, because one class started taking advantage of the other (it might’ve started with one individual, the individual subjective principle), leading to the stereotypical view of the Indian caste-system. I support *Tetrasociology*, because it offers a division of society, based on the present day division of labor. So long as the society falls under those classes (a subject of investigation) and people have appropriate skills and aptitudes to fall in one of those categories. However, in my view, a society categorized in spheral classes of the population does not by itself lend to harmony. There must be an accepted system (social, economic or political) that creates equality in the sense of equal need for each class. In that sense, it becomes a function of space and time during which the proposed division is the only formative norm of a society and thus a subject of scientific investigation. I recommend GPS conduct study to determine conditions under which Tetrasociology will stand the test of time in each respective country in which investigation is made. That will give an objective basis to GPS study.
