Dear Leo,
Greetings!
Attack on Church in Peshawar

With a population of over 180 million people (97 per cent Muslim), Pakistan is
the sixth most populous country in the world and the second Muslim nation after
Indonesia. Just under 80 per cent are Sunni Muslim, and 20 per cent are Shia.
Hindus are around 1.85 per cent; Christians are 1.6 per cent and Sikhs 0.04 per
cent. Violence against ethnic or religious minorities is commonplace across the
country, especially Christians a favorite target for fundamentalists. There
have been dozens of incidents of violence, including targeted attacks against
entire communities - Gojra in 2009 or Joseph Colony Lahore in March last year -
or abuses against individuals, often perpetrated under the pretext of blasphemy
laws that end up hitting innocent victims (the case of the Christian minor
Rimsha Masih). Now Two Taliban suicide bombers struck a historic church here on
Sunday, killing at least 78 people, including women and children, in the
deadliest attack on the minority Christian community in Pakistan's history.
Over 120 were injured in the attack on the historic All Saints Church at
Kohati Gate area of Peshawar. The bombers set off their explosive vests as
people were emerging from Sunday mass

Planning meeting against Attack on Church in Peshawar

Catholic Church and Christian community Toba Tek Singh right after the attack
organized planning meeting to raise voice collectively against attack at local,
national and international levels. In the meeting leaders of community, church
(Catholic and Protestants), representatives of Non Government Organization
(Caritas, society for Human development, Human Empowerment Foundation and CCI
etc.) and political parities participated. A good number of women were also in
the meeting to express their grief and sorrow over the attack and show their
solidarity with the affected families of Peshawar. Fr. Smion Khursheed told the
whole incident of Attack on Church in Peshawar, Pakistan. He expressed his deep
sorrow over the attack on Christian and prayed for the departed souls. He
further said that we should raise our voice against this killing and demand
government to provide protection to every citizen of the country. Mr. Rasheed
Jalal, political leader said that we are shocked to hear this inhuman killing
by the experiments. He also added that we should raise our voice and launch a
rally in protest right now. Ayub Anjum said that our government is failed to
provide protection to innocent civilians of the country. We urge government to
hang culprits at once. Mr. Nadeem James( CCI) shared with the participants of
the meeting that we should protest against this shameful, cowardly and inhuman
action. It is the violation of the humanity. It is happening because of the bad
law and order situation in the country. This shows that there is no peace,
harmony and tolerance in the country. If we want to protest and go on strike,
we must do it peacefully and remain calm and peaceful. We must be peace
promoter and make builder. To protest against the violations is our right but
it may give the message of tolerance, love, peace and harmony. After the
sharing of the leaders, Fr, Simon Khurhseed asked all to go for rally right
now. They responded that they want right now.

Rally against Attack on Church in Peshawar

Rally started from Christian area (Goal Basti) and ended at Shahbaz Chowk near
railway crossing, main area of the city. Christians were holding banners and
placards. They also chanted slogans against the killing and terrorism in the
country. They slogans were: Stop Terrorism, Stop killing innocent people, we
want peace, Give peace a chance. Rally passed through the different main areas
of the city peacefully and ended at Shahbaz Chowk. Rally was so peaceful that
there may not be any disturbance and mishap. At the ending point Shahbaz Chowk,
the leaders spoke to the people. Muslim political and religious leaders also
came to express their grief and sorrow over the attack and express their
solidarity, condemnation and closeness with Christians. They shared that they
are with the Christian and condemn this attack. They further said that there is
need of peace and harmony in the country. Killing is result of existence of
hatred and intolerance in the society. We must work to promote love, peace,
tolerance so that a just and peaceful society may build.

Prayer services in Catholic Church

Two special prayer services were held in Catholic Church, Waryam Road, Toba Tek
Singh, Pakistan to express sorrow with the victims and their families of
Peshawar Church attack. 300 Christian from all denomination came for the
prayers. These prayer services were held under the tight security to avoid any
mishap. Christian community offered prayers of sorrow, solidarity and peace
during the prayer service. Political, religious and social leaders spoke to the
people gathered in the church for prayers. It was interesting and encouraging
for Christians that Districting Coordinating Officer and Tehsil Municipal
Administrator along with their some personnel were present in the prayer
service. DCO expressed her sorrow and sympathy with the Christians. She further
said that she is shocked to hear this inhuman and barbaric action. She further
said that the Muslim community too is mourning, showing its solidarity with
Christians. She also said that Islam teaches us to protect minorities.

Prayer service in Convent of Jesus and Mary School

A special prayer service was held at Convent of Jesus and Mary High School Toba
Tek Singh by Sister of Convent of Jesus and Mary Congregation. Children offered
prayers for peace, love and tolerance in the country. Children prepared peace
charts and peace messages on papers. They also painted their faces with peace
symbols.

Prayer service in Christian community

A special prayer service was held at Christian colony Toba Tek Singh. Prayer
service was organized by the Christian community Toba Tek Singh. Fr. Simon
Khursheed and Captain Shehzad Salvation Army Church celebrated prayer service.
About 300 Christians from different denominations attended this prayer
services. Christians offered prayers for the departed souls and for their
families.

Peace Vigil (Peace Candle)

Society for Human Development with the collaboration of Awaz Forum, South Asia
Partnership held Peace Prayer Vigil at Shahbaz Chowk near railway crossing Toba
Tek Singh. 500 Christians (men, women and children) from different localities
gathered at Christian Colony and marched towards Shahbaz Chowk peacefully. They
were holding Peace and Harmony Candles to express their solidarity and sympathy
with the victims of Peshawar. At Shahbaz Chowk all the people both Christians
and Muslims lit candles in solidarity with victims. CCI members took part in
this Prayer Vigil. Ch. Muhammad Ashfaq, Provincial Vice-President Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI), Abdul Jabbar, Pakistan Peoples Party and other political
leaders expressed sympathy and solidarity with Christians and demanded
government to provide security to the religious minorities in the country.

Need
A long term and short Post-Attack Program on Peace and Harmony Initiatives is
needed to bridge the gap between Christians and Muslims from grassroots level
to top in various parts of the country especially in Peshawar, Lahore,
Faisalabad, Islamabad and Toba Tek Singh.
Following activities can be carried out:
Seminars with religious leaders from Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh
Exposure program (Muslims and Christian participants) to visit Peshawar to
express solidarity and sympathy with Christians
Installation of Peace Pools in Peshawar City.
Peace Prayer Vigil in Peshawar.
Poster and essay writing competitions among students in Peshawar.
Building Understanding through corner meetings.

Dear GHA Members,

The updated Contents of the Global Peace Science book was approved! We have not
received a single NO in voting on it. It is published here:
www.peacefromharmony.org/?cat=en_c&key=585.

I am happy to congratulate you on this and sincerely thank the participants of
the discussion and approval.

In the Contents following changes were made:
1. Norman Kurland was removed from the authors upon request.
2. We invite the co-authors of the following articles:
Erica Lazarova. Numa Pompilius: The Oldest Example of Social Peace from Harmony
Alexander Subetto. Noospheric Paradigm of Global Peace Science
3. We have included two new articles of Maria Cristina Azcona:

We are pleased to invite our two well-known artists: Lida Sherafatmand Celia
Altshuler take part in the decoration of the two inner covers of GPS book on a
competitive basis through creative thinking by harmonious spheres, which I
wrote to you about a month ago.

We also invite all authors and the interested to participate in the GHA new
book to send your articles to me a public way (through gha@xxxxxxxxxxxxx) to
ensure transparency and democracy of our collective creative process. Let me
remind you: the deadline for articles is November 30, 2013.

Now we have all the necessary methodological, informational and organizational
prerequisites for the hard and long work with articles for this book in
creative collaborative editing and discussing articles in accordance with the
Rules, to ensure the high scientific quality of each article. To do this, each
article should have brief analysis of the GHA sources and other literature,
bibliography, brief biographical note, etc. in accordance with the requirements
in the Rules here: www.peacefromharmony.org/?cat=en_c&key=585

Please misunderstand me. These Rules and Requirements are not personal whim.
They are approved by the GHA norms of our joint creative work. I, as the only
editor, just not physically able to write for more than 60 articles in the GHA
new book the analysis of sources and other literature, your biographical
information and ensure compliance for every article with 20 Requirements. So,
ultimately, I will refuse to publish all articles that do not meet the Rules
and Requirements in them. As you know, these are the conditions of work of any
editor in any scientific journal and in any publisher. I, like you, work on a
full voluntary basis and have no assistants, as well as strength, health, and
time to perform for each author this work, which requires the Rules and
Requirements in them. I hope you understand this, and we will respect and
cherish each other in accordance with these Rules.

I'll start my editorial mission in November and in the sequence of articles
corresponding to the book logic, so do not rush me, please, - for each article
its time will come. We have for this work about 6 months, i.e. we should finish
around 10 articles a month. At the same time, I have to write my own articles
and chapters in this book. I will be forced to abandon all other works in the
GHA and all letters are not related to the GHA new book until May 2014. So
please excuse me if I do not respond to other letters out of this book.

Hoping for your understanding and a friendly, mutually respectful and patient
work with the author's articles. Thank you.

With love, best harmony wishes,

Leo
