Dear Leo,

We are humbled, and so grateful, for the generosity that has made The Barefoot
Artist film possible. The online fundraising campaign in February exceeded our
goal of raising $60,000, and the film is now ready to be shared! We could not
have done this without the support of our many friends and supporters. Thank

Warm regards,

Lily Yeh

The Barefoot Artist in Rwanda

In April, Glenn Holsten (film co-director) and Lily Yeh shared The Barefoot
Artist film with genocide survivors and Twa villagers in the Rugerero sector,
West Rwanda. The story of the Rwanda Healing Project is an important segment of
the film and includes several sensitive and emotional stories from Lily's
extensive interviews with the survivors and the Twa over the past few years. It
was very important to share the film with them, to seek their feedback about
the film, and more importantly, to ask for their blessings.

There was so much fun in the sharing. People were very excited to see
themselves and people they know in the film. At the beginning, some individuals
were hesitant about sharing their stories. However, when they saw how
sensitively the film was done, and how their stories were told, they gave their
blessings in a most fervent manner.

They said, "Go and tell the stories so our tragedies will be remembered. We are
okay with the stories because we are not in the sad situations of 1994 anymore.
We are looking at the future with hope and new possibilities."

Asking to keep a copy of the film, Christian Dukuze, Executive Secretary of
Rugerero, said, “I must have a copy for my people. This is our legacy. It helps
us to remember.”

The community gave us their blessings after reviewing the film.
