 Dear Audra,

I was delighted to learn of the exchanges between you and Dave Hamill. The
world needs another Russell Long, a truly effective political leader with
his open-mindedness and passionate commitment to new ideas on how to expand
ownership of productive capital to every citizen as a fundamental human
right, but in ways that do not take away property rights from existing
owners. We miss him.

If you have not seen it, here's my account of the first meeting Louis Kelso
and I had with your grandfather: *
Many of the
our all-volunteer Center would not have been possible without your
grandfather's courageous support for our ideas.

Wouldn't it be great if the Huey Long Center launched an initiative to
revive the Share the Wealth Clubs around the country that turned Huey into
a major contender for the White House during the Depression before he was
assassinated? We would be honored to work with the Huey Long team to
revive Huey's Share the Wealth Club network for reaching out to today's
Americans from across the political spectrum to surface new Huey Longs and
Russell Longs who are committed to a Just Third Way
vision<http://www.cesj.org/binaryeconomics/kelsovision.htm>for the
future through the proposed
*Capital Homestead Act* <http://www.cesj.org/homestead/index.htm>.

Without having to target the rich as Huey did, our focus, as Russell knew,
was to focus on overhauling the current economic system in ways that those
with a stake in the current greed-based system and Wall Street are not
targeted and cannot stop. That will restore America's moral leadership
throughout the world.

Hello Audra,

Thank you for your reply, it really made my day! I make it a habit of
emailing influential people but you would be surprised how few reply.
That's why I didn't initially copy Norm, but I am now because I want
him to see that you truly have proven my theory about hereditary
courage true by replying to this email. It is certainly greatly
appreciated I look forward to working with you and anyone in your
family if you choose to join us in any way.

Also, Geaux Tigers tonight.

 Dear Dave,

Thank you for your message. This reply is from Audra Snider, Russell Long's
granddaughter. I assisted my grandfather during the later years of his life
and recall the names of Mr. Kurland and Mr. Kelso, along with the important
work of the Center for Social and Economic Justice that my grandfather
supported. I appreciate your informing me of the Capital Homesteading
proposal and will check out your website. I'll also pass this message along
to my mother, Pam Wofford, as well as other members of our family. Thank you
for your kind words about my grandfather and our website about Huey Long.
It's wonderful to make new friends through the site and also encouraging to
know that so many others care about the social and economic values the Longs
championed for so many years.

Best wishes,

Audra Snider

Hello I'm hoping this will reach Ms. Wofford and Ms. Snider.

I am part of a growing populist movement called the Just Third Way. You may
already know our leader, Dr Norm Kurland of Arlington Virginia, who was a
friend of your father and grandfather Russell. Norm, Russell and Louis Kelso
worked together to pass employee ownership legislation.

We were recently reflecting about how we need another leader like Russell
Long. He was quite simply our hero. I was wondering if any of his children
or grandchildren are still active in politics, so I did a little searching
and found this website. Great job! I grew up in Louisiana and I've always
admired Huey. I didn't realize how young he was when he was assassinated,
what a tragedy!

I think it's important to look at how little has been done to address wealth
disparity and how Huey's well-intentioned plan has never gained traction
and will probably not be realized in our lifetime. I should admit that I
come from a libertarian conservative background and have never really
advocated a large tax on excessive wealth, but I have also been discouraged
by the unjust system, working 80 or more hours a week for the last 20 years
just to barely get by. Anyway without digressing too far, I wanted to invite
you to learn about or reconsider a plan that everyone in any part of the
political spectrum can get behind. This totally addresses wealth disparity
but doesn't take anything from the rich, and yet builds widespread ownership
of capital as Russell Long's ESOP plans have done for many. The specific
proposal is called Capital Homesteading. I would love for you to have a
conversation with Norm Kurland while he is still with us. I hope you will
call him at (703) 243-5155 and tell him that I invited you to do so. I think
it will be an enlightening experience that will cause you to decide to put
the Long name on this movement which is now gaining momentum as monopoly
capitalism and socialism have both failed the world.

I invite ypu to explore our site at cesj.org where you will find letters
from Russell to Norm and details of our present work that will hopefully
persuade you that actively joining us will honor Russell and benefit
humanity. Perhaps you will find yourself speaking at one of our events. I
bet the beauty of the Long spirit lives...
