Dear Philip,
You are correct. It was in the 1950's that a war started between 'melody' and
'rhythm' and history has shown that rhythm won - to our loss!

Jack

Well its nice to get to know one another, (grin) but my original post was a
spoof about how the written word, or even the spoken word, without the face,
betrays no race, like the soul, perhaps, as I tried to visualise Steven and his
Scottish Dance Band. I heard traditional music. Hope I wasn't wrong. Modern
music has just about destroyed all the traditional, and turned everybody in the
entire world into modernist afroamerican rock punks.

  Philip.

I laughed when some kid from the "British Isles"
called my, at the time, 10-year-old son "Kraut" for being
1/4 German. The part I laughed at was when he immediately
came back with, "You, you ENGLISH MUFFIN!"

So forget the "British Isles" stuff I'm sticking with the name above
for all of you in that part, Irish and Scottish included it's all
the same to us who live far away from there. ; ~ )

Well, in theory, I'm English, but genealogy puts me a little bit
      differently. I'm 9/16^th Scottish, 5/16^th English, 1/16^th Welsh and
1/16^th Irish, plus I've got a little Norse in me too since my Granny
was from Shetland. So all in all, I suppose it's safe to say I'm from
      the British Isles!

      Steven.
