Dear Paul,
I made a right mess of that e-mail so here it is again corrected.
Thanks for the solar panel info. How do you feel about the one's used on the
Japanese satellite?
CG = Computer generated.

    3.5kW at 220V is 15.9A not 13A.
    Using these figures, and a solar panel advertised in a hobby supply
catalogue as being 950mm by 340mm and rated at 15W, one would need about 233 of
these panels with a combined area of about 8.7m^2. The efficiency of these
panels is not stated but almost certainly well below the efficiency of those
used in space.
    The Earth under good conditions receives solar energy at about 1kW per m^2.
It will be higher in space at 1 AU.
    What is 'CG'?
