  Rich, I have a 800 number where I can call for 2.9 cents/min. I never even
thought about using it. Even at that rate, it can pile up. Several times
whenI checked my email, I had over 200 messages plus the time it takes to
logcaches. It is something to keep in mind though. Getting ready to go
caching. Bernie

- Bernie, I'm like you with the access numbers. They are never in the cities
I'm staying in. I've found what works good is a LD calling card from
Wal-Martfor 4 cents a minute (I think) and then I dial my St. Louis SBC
number for access. With DSL from SBC you also get free dialup. I did play
with my cell phone too since I have free LD anywhere and got it to work for
adialup connection with my laptop. I've got unlimited minutes on nights and
weekends so it's another option if I'm away from a motel or anything. Normal
connection is usually 12-14.4k so it's slow. Rich ----- Original Message

Subject:[GeoStL] Re: You think it was hot in STL? - Yah, that makes sense.
I'm still not real happy with getting a connection while traveling. I have
access numbers for a ton of cities, but of course notalways the city I'm in.
In St.Ignace I went into a Big Boy Restaurant and they had wireless there
andtwo computers sitting on the counter. I talked toa guy at a campground in
Canada that claimed his sister could get a connection while sitting at any
picnic table. Now, that would be nice. bernie GC-RGS wrote: - Bernie, I know
he has wireless on his laptop, so he's probably stopping at Bread Company or
places like that and using the free wireless internet there.Rich -----

doesnot provide access numbers when traveling. ( That iswhy I dropped them )
How are you getting on the net? Bernie Jim Bensman wrote: - Well I was
heading through KS yesterday. The temperature was in the 100s all day. Once
Ipassed a reading of 111! Even with the heat and driving all the way to
Salina, I was able to get 19 caches. The nice ones were the virtual ones you
could do from the car. You had to be selective. On sounded nice but when I
read half mile hike up a hill, I went on. Oh well. I am heading for the
mountains in CO. Hope it will be cooler there.
