You're a genius Jim, liquid nails works like a charm.... :)

Actually, pushing the little slide down worked well and maps are now
downloading. Thanks for the tip.

So, for those of you who are interested, the total cost of the little
project is:

step 1:
micro SD chip (with thanks to Mike for the lead): $10
shipping for above: $8
additional items to make the shipping worthwhile: $24

step 2:
Maps to have something to load to the micro SD chip: $100
shipping and tax(!) for above: $16

step 3:
new DVD drive because my old computer only has a CD drive:
this step abandoned in favor of step 4.

step 4:
new laptop: $600
MS Office to make above laptop marginally useful: $100
sales tax on above: 0 (hooray for sales tax holiday!)

total cost my new micro SD: $858
sense of satisfaction that my 60CSx will be working to its greatest
capability: priceless
