Just before leaving for the Waltz Across Texas, I requested 3 GPX Pocket Queries files. With about 1000 wpts loaded and "sheets" for about 1500 caches, I had hoped to select about 30 to 50 caches along the way and in the area surrounding Marble Falls Texas. I had 2 travel bugs that really needed to move and this was going to be the perfect opportunity for them to make some miles.

Along the way I passed many rest stops and was amazed that there were no caches or bug hotels located there. I passed nothing close to the hiway on the whole trip. Most odd i thought to myself.

On Saturday after the riders were on the road I started looking at the sheets for the caches I had near Marble falls. "After solving the many puzzles, I decided that my 4x4 was not up to the trip", cache after cache was similar notes. "..hardest cache around here..." . Everything was a multi puzzle, offset, 4x4 required, multiday adventure. 4/4 and above sort of caches. Not exactly what I had hoped for.

When i got home, I rechecked the PQ's. In my haste while out the door, I selected all caches GREATER than 3/3. I was shooting for LESS than 3/3's and looking for EASY fast caches. So, the travel bugs traveled 2000 miles and ended right back where they started. Now they REALLY have to get moving.

Lesson: Actually CHECK the caches in the PQ before heading out the door.

BTW: The Rally was great, nobody was hurt and everyone was accounted for at the end of the rally. Thats a good thing and things don't always end this nicely.
