I wonder if the original inventors realized that we'd be using duct tape for
everything from repairing airplane skins to fixing clothing. I understand
there is a college scholarship offered to the most creative prom dress made
entirely of duct tape. Amanda even found instructions on how to make roses
using different color duct tape.

Trivia time: ...... duct tape was originally duck tape. It was
originally OD green and was called "duck" tape because it was water
proof and shed water like off a duck's back. They started using it on
ducts after WW II and changed the color to silver, but later found it
was problematic in such a role (pun intended). It became brittle, and
did not come up to any kind of safety standard with regard to fire, so
it is banned for use with ducts in states such as California, and not
officially sanctioned for that use anywhere. But the name stuck (another
pun if you please) with duct, although you get some old guys like me
that still use the term "duck" tape rather than "duct" tape.
